Cleaning Water and Creating Opportunity with Floating Wetlands

FLOATING WETLANDS

Floating wetlands are gardens that sit on the water’s surface. The plants grow on floating platforms, with their roots hanging directly into the water below. As water moves past the roots, the plants naturally take up excess nutrients and pollutants. Those pollutants end up stored in the plants themselves, so when the plants are trimmed and harvested, the pollution is removed from the water too.

It’s a simple, natural way to improve water quality-no chemicals, no machinery, just plants doing what they do best.

No Extra Space Needed

Add treatment and habitat within ponds, canals, and other permanent waterbodies without requiring additional land.

Support Natural Treatment

Plant roots and associated microbial communities help capture nutrients and other pollutants from the water column.

Floating Wetlands
that do More

Phytoflora Gardens creates floating wetland systems that bring the natural functions of wetlands into ponds, canals, and other urban waterways. Above the surface, carefully selected plants create vibrant living landscapes. Below the surface, their roots and associated microbial communities help capture nutrients and support cleaner, healthier aquatic ecosystems.

Through routine harvesting, nutrients stored in plant biomass are physically removed from the water. Where site conditions allow, that biomass can also be transformed into useful products, connecting water-quality improvement with a more circular, productive approach to stormwater management.

Our Vision

We envision communities where canals, ponds, and other waterways function as living systems that give back. Water infrastructure should do more than manage stormwater. It should support healthy ecosystems, strengthen local resilience, and create value for the communities around it.

By bringing wetlands back into urban and working landscapes, we aim to transform overlooked waterways into healthier, more productive spaces where water quality, biodiversity, and community well-being can thrive together.

What We Do

Phytoflora Gardens designs and delivers productive floating wetland systems for ponds, canals, lakes, and stormwater infrastructure. Each system combines durable floating technology with site-specific plant selection and ecological design to improve water quality, create habitat, and bring vibrant living landscapes to the water.

Our work bridges research, implementation, and long-term management. From planning and installation to maintenance, harvesting, and monitoring, we help communities put nature-based water solutions into practice.
